Had a great meal here on a Saturday evening with family. I had a 350g sirloin with the seafood topper. Cooked exactly as ordered (medium rare). All meals delivered quickly. Staff happy, engaging and friendly. Reasonable prices and cold drinks. A good quality country pub. Highly recommended.

The Hotel
The Federal Hotel, the locals favourite was built in 1907 and is a two storey Federation style hotel. It can be found in the quaint picturesque town of Childers, Queensland, along the main street (M1 Bruce Highway). “The Feddy” as locals like to call it, offers both locals and visitors the best cold beer in town and great meals. One can relax and unwind in the beer garden and catch up with friends. The Federal Hotel hosts live entertainment on a regular basis and has comfortable clean basic accommodation on offer if you need to stopover for the night.
We support our local community by sponsoring the local cricket and rugby clubs, plus support our local not-for-profit community groups such as the Childers Show Society, Rifle Club, Quilters and Orchid Society.

“The Feddy” is Childers’ favourite place to catch up, with a variety of entertainment on a weekly basis plus dining and accommodation options.
The Federal Hotel has everything a great pub can offer. With good old fashioned hospitality and the charm of our beautiful and historical country town you will enjoy the best of a traditional heritage listed Queensland pub so drop in, sit back and enjoy the coldest beer in town in our welcoming beer garden.
Our Restaurant
Our dining room “The Kitchen” is open 7 days a week for both Lunch (11.30am – 2.30pm) and Dinner (5.30pm – 8.00pm). We offer all your favourite pub meals and have a great friendly atmosphere.
We also cater for functions and if you would like to look at our platter menu or talk to us about holding your next event here, please contact us, we’d be happy to help make your event memorable.
Parties and Functions
If you are interested in holding a Function at The Federal Hotel please take a look at the Platter Menu, we can also do dinners or lunches per head specific to a menu of your choosing.
We can cater for approx 30 in the Dining Room or up to 60 in the Beer Garden. Please contact us any time and talk to us about your requirements, we will be happy to help with your event.
Accommodation
The Federal Hotel accommodation is a great place for a quick stop-over in Childers, Queensland. The hotel is now 116 years old, established in 1907, and at present we have no ensuited rooms available but offer shared facilities.
Stay with us at The Federal Hotel and experience good old fashioned friendly hospitality while spending a night or two if you choose to linger longer and explore the amazing local area.
Our rooms and facilities are clean and comfortable. All rooms have 12 foot ceilings and 4 rooms open out onto our expansive verandah offering views over the town of Childers.
You may book all of our 6 pub rooms in total, which includes 2 single rooms, 3 double rooms and 1 family room (1 single bed and 1 double bed) plus you can sleep as many as we can fit in swags on the verandah for a minimum fee per person (fee covers shower costs and cleaning).

Bottle Shop
The Federal Cellars aka Bottlemart is the only place in Childers to pickup some alcohol. We offer a huge range of top quality wines, international beers, craft beers and spirits.
Conveniently located next to Woolworths supermarket you have a one stop shop at Shop 4/111 Churchill Street. Our friendly staff can help you out and we have fantastic specials everyday and to make things even better, we now have a home delivery service.

Friendly and inviting staff from the minute we walked in the door, very clean pub that holds so much charm, character and history. Meals were delish, we had toasted sandwich with chips and gravy, very generous meals.
We decided to stop here at Childers for lunch in the beer garden. The food was sensational, the meals were very very generous and the staff were polite. You will not be disappointed. Our dog was also most welcome.
Wow – Yay the kitchen is back!! Had lunch today and asked for the tropical chook with béarnaise sauce instead of bbq!! No probs changing it up, and omg delicious, chicken was juicy and so yum!! Service fab, bar staff friendly as per usual!! Love scooting up to you for the day!! Keep up the great work!! PS doggie loved the access to beer garden too!

Went for dinner and drinks for a friends birthday. The service was awesome, we ordered from a great reasonably priced menu and the lady who took our order may have been new but was lovely. Our meal was quickly ready and absolutely delicious. Thanks for a great night, we will be back!
